#11 - Modern Theatre

YO!

Today was culture time as I was invited to go see a theatre performance called Neo-Hamlet at the Museum of Contemporary Art.

Here's what the description has to say about it:

Get ready to be taken on a ride full of boredom through the whimsical ugly-as-fuck visuals; dive in to the depths of the dream world, as we guarantee you'll be falling asleep in no time. The Neo-Hamlet experience will amaze you how well you were able to plan your grocery list while trying to avoid the stream of crap running on the screen. Oh, did you think it was supposed to be theatre? With on stage acting and such? Oh, we're sorry,  this is a CONTEMPORARY THEATRE, which is something brand new!! You'll be seeing the actors on a screen! Pre-recorded! With horrible special effects and bad editing! Yes, EXACTLY like a shitty art school movie! So come on, join us on this mind-numbing experience of audio-visual diarrhea, we guarantee you it will be your first and your last contemporary theatre show.

#10 - Climbing

Dear diary,

I hope all is well. Yesterday I told you people that you could find a link to my online dating profile on my blog.. Here comes the shocker:

Today I went climbing with my bro Jedy, aka Jedy King Kong. I know Jedy from dancing and he's been bugging me a lot about going climbing, so this was the perfect opportunity for us to do it! I felt pretty nervous as we entered the climbing place, some of the walls looked massive and my fear of heights wasn't helping. I strapped the harness on and put on some climbing shoes on my bare feet. The shoes started to get sweaty right away and I couldn't help but wonder how full of other people's feet sweat they were.

My first climbing route was, umm, yellow! After a few tips from Jedy (keep close to the wall and always try to use your legs to push you further) I started the climb. The route was for beginners and the belaying was automatic, which means that if I fell or jumped down, the machine would lower me automatically. I was nervous about it and decided to test it from 2 meters. I jumped and it worked wonderfully! "pheew." I thought as I started to climb. The route was pretty easy and I reached the top in no time. All the nervousness had faded away and I felt good!

As our day progressed Jedy climbed some crazy walls and I climbed the easy ones! All the climbing routes have a difficulty level from 1 to 9, where 4 is the first one vertical. My first wall was a 4 and after that I managed to climb a 5a and later on a 5b! The 5b was quite tricky for me and I really had to use my arms on that one to keep me from falling, since I had no proper technique. Completing it felt great, because it really was a challenge. My gym & dance background helped quite a bit I must say.. I'm still far away from Jedy, as  most climbers get stuck at 6a level.. One of Jedy's routes was a 6b+ at least and, he's currently at 6c level.

Of course they had to shine a divine spot light on me to highlight my awesome climbing skills!

After my success story I tried a 5b and a 5a and failed them both! I had no power in my grip any more and couldn't hang on after going past the middle mark.. Afterwards we went bouldering to the top floor for a bit.. Bouldering is basically climbing small stuff without ropes. After 3 hours of climbing it was time to go home knowing that the next day my back and arms were going to ache from all the climbing.. What a great experience!

#09 - Online Dating Profile!

Hay guysss!

I just finished creating my online dating profile and checking a couple of chicks out. I just wanna talk about my McDonald's challenge yesterday real quick. DO NOT DO IT! It wasn't fun at all eating all that junk food. There's a reason it's called junk food, because it's junk. (isn't that reasonable?) Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy a BigMac meal once in a while, and imo cheeseburgers are a quick & cheap snack that will keep you energized for quite a bit (since they're full of protein and fat), but eating Mickey D's for 5 meals a day is horrible. I felt a little depressed today as well due to the processed foot I ate yesterday..

My breakfast yesterday.. YUCK! That tasted like Uranus.

Anyways, (I love writing that) today I made a DATING PROFILE! It was fun writing about my big head and my love for dancing. During this blog I've learned that I actually like the creative writing process, and filling the profile with dry humor and witty sarcasm was sooooooo easy... (See what I did there? Me neither..)

Before I could get my hands on the profile, I had to create one first. Coming up with a username was a pain in the butt, which actually was quite a popular word in the suggestions my friends came up with. I compiled a list of the most beautiful, over the top usernames people suggested for me that you can use if you decide to make an online profile of some sort:

Ah yes, the CLIT-TICKLER.. I laughed so hard when my roommate suggested it! Can you imagine getting a message from the "CT"? Ahaha I would laugh my ass off.. Anyways, after an hour of perverted suggestions, I decided to go with a more common nickname. What is that nickname you might ask? Well I'll keep it a secret for now.. If you wanna find it and my profile, you can start looking for it somewhere in this blogpost. I've added a secret link that will take you to my profile. ;) Can you find it?

I made my profile, filled all the details, answered 50 questions and even got a visit from a girl!!! OMG OMG OMG OMG!!! She was beautiful and sounded nice, but her elbows were too pointy, so I doubt I'll be asking her out.. (Just kidding!) Anyways, (oops I did it again) It's getting late now.. I'll be sure to post, if something interesting happens in my online dating life (like a restraining order of some sort). (bracketing like a boss!)

#08 - Supersize ME aka McDonald's day

Today I ate Mickey D's only. I don't really feel good atm, so I'll keep the blog short..

At first I was like

I calculated that I ate around 3500 kcal today.

Heh. Don't try this at home kids!

#06 - 07 Graffiti Sketching & Painting

Ee-o!

Saturday was graffiti sketching day. I went to Linda's aka B-Girl Super Flinda's place to prepare for our graffiti session. We checked a couple of graffiti books for inspiration and then we got down to bidniz. Our private drawing/coloring club was fun and we sketched for a couple of hours. We also listened to some funky beats and watched b-boying videos while sketching, just to get a feel for that real Hip Hop Culture!

So on Sunday we went to the graffiti wall and painted for 4 hours. Here's a photo compilation of my day as a Graffiti Writer.

We painted at a legal graffiti wall in Kalasatama.

First you apply a base of thick paint that covers up the old graffiti..

.. then you sketch your letters and start filling them up! You can see some of my sketching with the caramel color in the pic. I filled the orange first, and then added the blue parts

After the fill colors are done you add the background color and finally the outlines. It was really windy today, so it was difficult to paint a good looking line, the paint flew all over the place!

You finish the piece with details and highlights! You can either go for the flashy, over the top, IN-YOUR-FACE highlights like mine on the left, or you can go for the subtle and elegant bling like Linda on the right.

#05 - Baking Cinnamon Buns in the Middle of the Night

Mmm, delicious!

It's 01:30 here and I just ate yet another of my first homemade cinnamon buns. We finished our baking session almost an hour ago. I don't think many people have baked in the middle of the night, let alone on a Friday night.. My original plan was to bake when I got home after school. Before I started, I noticed a friend online and decided to ask her to join me. Elma answered my inquiry with enthusiasm but quickly told me she had to go to work and didn't get off until 23:00.. I decided to jokingly tell her that we were going to have to bake at midnight! and she said "ok, lets do it." Wow! I didn't expect her to say yes at all. I love it that she is ready to come bake with me in the middle of the night after work, some people are spontaneous and really take an effort in friendship :)

So here I was, making dough in the middle of the night.. Not the kind of dough I used to make when I sat many long nights in front of the computer grinding internet poker. No, this dough was soft and warm and making it didn't cause any mood swings or stress. Some of you might know that I used to play poker for a living, but I quit during this year. As they say: "Poker is a hard way to make an easy living" and after 3 years of supporting myself with online card games I had lost the enthusiasm I once had and said bye-bye to poker! Anyways, I finished the dough and we watched some dance stuff while waiting for the yeast to do its thing..

I FKN LOVE DOUGH!!!!

After we had let the dough rise, it was time to make the cinnamon buns. We sprinkled some flour (or as Elma liked to call it: "DUST") on the table and I showed Elma how

  REAL MEN USE THE DOUGH ROLLER!!!

YOU AIN'T A MAN IF YOU DON'T ROLL YOUR DOUGH LIKE THIS!!

We made a huge load of cinnamon buns, and to tell you the truth, they taste AWESOME! Damn I'm proud..

Baking is fun and cinnamon buns are quite easy to make. If you want a challenge, bake them like a man!

#04 - YES MAN

Dear diary,

my challenge today was to say yes to anything (reasonable)...

ps. My day was wonderful! I spent 9 hours at school, bought new speakers and some paint for my graffiti session, noticed I left my keys home, tried calling my roommate to come open the door, but her phone was malfunctioning. Then I called my sister and told her that I will come over. I also asked her to keep their outer entrance unlocked so I can actually get in the apartment complex.

My phone's battery ran out.
I went back to our place to see if my roomie had come home already – no answer.
Took the tram to my sister's place.
Somebody had shut the door.
Went back to our place.
Nobody home.
It started to rain.
Finally a neighbor let me in from the rain. Sat on my ass for 1 hour until she came back.

Heh. Shit happens! I've learned that life is easier to deal with when you don't worry about the little things. :)
